A man will face court following an alleged pursuit in Sydney's west.
About 6.40am today (Tuesday 19 May 2026), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and State Crime Command's Raptor Squad were patrolling the Merrylands area, when they attempted to stop a sedan on Railway Street.
Police will allege the sedan had cloned number plates.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated, driving through Merrylands, Guildford, Chester Hill, Granville, Sefton, and Greenacre.
The pursuit ended after the vehicle crashed into three police vehicles before hitting a tree and stationary vehicle on Stacey Street, Greenacre.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The driver - a 42-year-old man - was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.
A 38-year-old female passenger was released at the scene without charge.
The driver was charged with the following offences;
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
- Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
- Not give particulars to other driver
- Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
He was refused bail and will face Bankstown Court tomorrow (Wednesday 20 May 2026).
