A man has been charged with multiple serious traffic offences after a crash on Parramatta Road at Homebush West.
About 2.30am today (Sunday 12 April 2020), police from Auburn Police Area Command detected an Audi vehicle allegedly speeding on Parramatta Road, Homebush. Officers activated their lights and sirens to pull over the vehicle; however, the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later the Audi stopped and, when police pulled up behind it, the car reversed and rammed their vehicle before driving off at speed.
About 2.40am, emergency services were called to Parramatta Road near Flemington Road, Homebush West, after the Audi had struck a pole before hitting another car.
Police were not pursuing the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene with the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Auburn Hospital as a precaution and for mandatory testing.
The passenger was taken to Auburn Hospital for treatment of a partially severed ear and other injuries.
The driver was later released from hospital and taken to Auburn Police Station.
He was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, exceed speed 20km/h, dangerous driving occ GBH, negligent driving (occasions GBH), cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle, owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger and not give particulars to police.
The man was given conditional bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court on 4 June 2020.
