Police Charge Man After Pursuit Northwest Of Melbourne

A man has been charged after he was arrested following a pursuit in Fraser Rise on Saturday morning.

Melton Highway Patrol initially detected a Volkswagen Golf allegedly driving at 193km/h in a 60km/h zone in Caroline Springs about 12.20am.

They attempted to intercept the vehicle which was bearing false registration plates, however the vehicle failed to pull over.

Police Air Wing followed the vehicle, before the offenders dumped the vehicle in Admirals Crescent, Keilor Downs and fled on foot.

The driver was arrested a short time later, with the assistance of the police Dog Squad.

The 19-year-old man from Gisborne South was charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police.

He was bailed to appear at the Sunshine Magistrates Court on 1 December.
