Police Charge Man After Serious Crash - Mid North Coast

A man will face court next month charged following a serious crash near Laurieton earlier this year.

About 6.15am on Sunday 26 July 2026, emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash along Ocean Drive, Lakewood.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the occupants of an SUV, a 51-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman.

One of the women was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital, while the other was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital by road.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 30-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital.

A crime scene was established and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the incident.

On Saturday 29 August 2026, following extensive inquiries, police attended a home in Kew and spoke with the 30-year-old man.

He was issued a court attendance notice for three offences,

  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
  • Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), and
  • Not keep left of median strip-motor vehicle.

He is due to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 14 October 2026.
