Police charge man after Shepparton stabbing

Detectives from the Shepparton Family Violence Investigation Unit have charged a man with attempted murder following a stabbing in Shepparton on Friday.

The 30-year-old Mooroopna man was charged with one count of attempted murder and a number of other charges on Saturday night.

He appeared before a bail justice and was remanded in custody to appear before Shepparton Magistrates' Court today.

The charges follow an incident where a woman was found critically injured in Parker Street on Friday 15 October about 2pm.

The 25-year-old from Shepparton was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.

It is also alleged the man fled the scene of the incident, with a four-month old baby boy who was known to the him, immediately after the incident.

The man was arrested by police shortly after and the child recovered uninjured.
