Police charge man after St Albans aggravated burglary

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated burglary in St Albans Thursday night.

It's alleged the man entered a residence on East Esplanade about 10.40pm while the occupants were inside.

A confrontation occurred with one of the residents before the man fled.

Protective Services Officers nearby alerted police who arrested the man a short distance away.

A 40-year old St Albans man has been charged with aggravated burglary and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.

The resident, a 21-year-old St Albans man sustained minor injuries.
