Police charge man after stabbing at Waterloo 7 September

A man will appear in court today charged following a stabbing in inner Sydney overnight.

About 1am (Thursday 7 September 2023), emergency services were called to a Pitt Street, Waterloo, following reports a man had been injured.

On arrival, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command found a 43-year-old man suffering a stab wound to his hand.

The man was reportedly injured after a verbal altercation with a resident of the building.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Sydney Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 36-year-old man was arrested about 2.30am.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today.
