Police charge man after stabbing at Wollongong

A man has been charged following a stabbing in Wollongong earlier this week.

About 4.10pm Monday (23 September 2019) an altercation took place between two men and a woman on Court Street, Wollongong.

Police allege a 19-year-old man produced a knife during the altercation and stabbed the other man in the stomach.

An 18-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition, with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Shortly after 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 25 September 2019) the 19-year-old man was located by police on Corrimal Street, Wollongong.

He was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 26 September 2019).
