Police charge man after stabbing - Fairy Meadow

A man will face court today charged over an alleged stabbing in Fairy Meadow last month.

About 10.25am Saturday 30 November 2019, emergency services attended a unit on Daisy Street, Fairy Meadow after reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest believed to be self-inflicted.

He was treated at the scene and airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A second man – aged 71 - presented at Wollongong Hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Upon his release from hospital, the 42-year-old man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 10 December 2019).
