Police Charge Man After Stabbings - Marrickville

A man will appear in court today after being charged following a stabbing at Marrickville yesterday (Thursday 23 May 2024).

About 5.50pm yesterday, emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing on Sydenham Road, Marrickville.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man, aged 25, for stab wounds to his face, neck, head and hand.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is in a critical condition.

A woman, aged 55, was also treated for a stab wound to the throat, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newtown Police Station.

He has been charged with two counts of cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

He will appear before Newtown Local Court today.

Police will allege all three people are known to each other.
