Police charge man after string of steal from motor vehicle offences at Lightning Ridge

A man has been charged following an investigation into steal from motor vehicle offences in the state's north west earlier this week.

On Tuesday (2 February 2021), officers attached to Central North Police District commenced inquiries following reports that several vehicles had been broken into along Morilla Street, Lightning Ridge.

Police were told items were stolen from one vehicle, and a further five were entered and searched.

As part of inquiries, police arrested a 17-year-old boy, shortly after 4pm the same day.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a 20-year-old man at Lightning Ridge Police Station about 9am yesterday (Wednesday 3 February 2021).

He was charged with six counts of larceny, malicious damage and have face disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and will appear before Lightning Ridge Local Court on Friday 11 February 2021.

The teenager will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
