Police have charged a man and are looking to speak with a second following an alleged armed robbery in Hawthorn last week.

The incident occurred at a Glenferrie Road convenience store at 1.30am on 15 March.

A man allegedly entered the store and made threats with a knife before stealing cigarettes and cash.

Police arrested the 22-year-old Hawthorn man a short time later and have since charged him with armed robbery.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 9 June.
