Police charge man and woman after Launceston jewellery store robbery

A man and a woman have been charged following the robbery of a Launceston jewellery store this morning.

A 43-year-old man from Dilston has been charged with robbery, after entering the store in the Quadrant Mall about 10.30am and allegedly stealing a ring worth $7,500.

Significant police resources were deployed to search for the man after he reportedly fled on foot. Three people were arrested at Dilston a short time later and the stolen ring was recovered by police.

A 46-year-old woman from Dilston has been charged with unlawful possession. The other person arrested was released without charge.

Both the man and the woman have been bailed and will appear in court in April.
