Police charge man for borders breach

A 35-year-old man who arrived on King Island by plane from Victoria has been charged for failing to comply with the lawful requirement or direction of an emergency management worker and disorderly conduct.

The man flew from Melbourne to King Island on Thursday (18 November) without approval from the Deputy State Controller.

It is alleged that on arrival the man behaved in a disorderly manner and as a result Tasmania Police were called.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 22 December at 9:30am.

The man was directed to leave the state by Tasmania Police and did so this morning.

As the matter is currently before the court, it is inappropriate to comment further on the charges.
