Police charge man for multiple sports club burglaries, Gold Coast and Brisbane

The Drug and Serious Crime Group, in partnership with the South Eastern Police Region, has been investigating a series of linked break and enter offences in South East Queensland where money has been stolen from poker machines, Queensland Police say.

Detectives from Operation Aristocrat have been liaising with New South Wales detectives who are investigating similar offences believed to have been committed by the same offender.

Police believe the offender has been active in Queensland and New South Wales for several years targeting poker machines in sports clubs and other commercial businesses.

A search warrant was executed today (Tuesday, August 29) at an Elanora address where a 53-year-old was arrested.

Detectives will prefer charges in relation to 28 break and enter offences committed from North Brisbane to the Gold Coast between 2009 and 2017.

The investigation is ongoing by the Queensland Police Service and New South Wales Police Force to identify further break and enter offences committed.
