Police Charge Man Over Armed Robbery At Murwillumbah

A man has faced court today after being charged over the alleged armed robbery of a man in the state's north.

About 5.50pm on Tuesday 3 March 2026, detectives attached to Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation after a 31-year-old man reported being robbed of an E-bike in Knox Park, Murwillumbah, by a man allegedly armed with a knife.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 33-year-old man in the Murwillumbah shopping centre, following reports of a man behaving aggressively.

He was taken to hospital under police guard for medical treatment.

After being released , the man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with three offences - robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence and larceny.

The man was refused bail to appear in Bail Division – Court 1 today (Thursday 5 March 2026), where he was granted conditional bail, to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on 15 May 2026.
