Police charge man over attempted armed robbery - Salamander Bay

A man will face court tomorrow after the alleged attempted armed robbery of a shop in Salamander Bay.

About 2.20pm today (Friday 13 September 2019), a man allegedly entered a store on Soldiers Point Road, Salamander Bay and threatened a female shop attendant, before demanding cash.

It is alleged the man, aged 21, held a deodorant can at the 39-year-old woman and made threats, before fleeing empty handed.

The man was arrested a short time later on Foreshore Drive, Salamander Bay and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.

He was charged with attempted armed robbery and armed with intent.

He was bail refused to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 14 September 2019).
