Police charge man over child approach - Cabramatta

A man has been charged after a child was allegedly approached in Sydney's south-west yesterday.

About 11.40am (Saturday 15 May 2021), a man was allegedly seen filming children participating in swimming lessons at a leisure centre on Broomfield Street, Cabramatta.

The children were unknown to the man.

The man then approached a girl, aged four, and allegedly attempted to touch her on the head. An off-duty police officer, who was at the leisure centre, spoke to the man, who then left the scene.

The officer informed Fairfield City Police Area Command, who began inquiries.

About 6pm, a 65-year-old man attended Cabramatta Police Station where he was arrested.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal), and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

He was given conditional bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 9 June 2021.
