A man will face court today charged after a woman was fatally struck by a car in Sydney's west earlier this week.
About 5.30pm on Thursday 5 June 2025, emergency services were called to Macquarie Avenue, Penrith, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle before it drove away from the scene without stopping.
A woman – believed to be aged in her 60's – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she could not be revived.
She is yet to be formally identified.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene which was forensically examined by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, and a public appeal for assistance, about 10.40pm yesterday (Friday 6 June 2025), police arrested a 20-year-old man at a home on Taloma Street, Penrith.
He was taken to St Marys Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), fail to stop and assist after impact cause death, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road.
He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 7 June 2025).
