Police charge man over fatal crash at West Pennant Hills

A man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death over a crash involving a ute and a truck in Sydney's north west yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Pennant Hills Road, near the intersection with the M2 at West Pennant Hills, about 3.20pm (Monday 8 November 2021), where a Toyota Hilux utility and a truck had collided.

NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to the passenger in the utility, a 22-year-old man from Granville; however, he died at the scene.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command arrested the driver of the utility, a man also aged 22, and the driver of the truck, a 39-year-old man, for mandatory testing. The truck driver has since been released.

The utility driver was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasioning death, and drive while licence suspended.

The man, from Merrylands, has been granted conditional bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court on 1 December 2021.
