Police charge man over fatal stabbing near Kempsey

A man will face court today charged with murder following an alleged stabbing near Kempsey.

About 9.15pm on Friday (3 August 2019), police and emergency services responded to reports a man had been stabbed at a property on Pipers Creek Road, Dondingalong.

On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics declared the 54-year-old man deceased.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries.

Shortly after, emergency services were called to a single vehicle crash on Pipers Creek Road.

The driver and sole occupant – a 40-year-old man – was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital for

treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was released from hospital yesterday (Monday 5 August 2019), and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

He has been refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court later today (Tuesday 6 August 2019).

Inquiries are continuing.
