Police charge man over home invasion at Penrith

A man will face court today charged over an alleged home invasion at a Penrith home yesterday.

Just before 4.30am (Saturday 22 August 2020), emergency services were called to a home on The Road, after reports three men forced entry to the home.

Police will allege that the men – armed with a rifle and pipes – entered a bedroom and spoke to a male occupant, aged 24, before stealing a safe and fleeing in a Hyundai Getz.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a Penrith shopping centre about 12.30pm and arrested two men, aged 22 and 23, and a 24-year-old woman.

They were all taken to Penrith Police Station.

The younger man was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – weapon.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 23 August 2020).

The older man and woman were released pending further investigation.

Inquiries continue.
