Police charge man over Launceston robbery

A man has been charged after an alleged robbery at City Park Grand Hotel in Launceston early this morning.

At 5.50am on Tuesday 30 April, police were called to an intruder at the City Park Grand Hotel situated in Tamar Street Launceston.

It was established that a man had threatened a female employee of the hotel with an iron bar after stealing a handbag and other property to the value of $1700.

The victim in this matter was not injured.

Police attended and the man fled from them but was arrested a short distance away.

A 30 year old Norwood man has been charged with Armed Robbery, Burglary and Stealing and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 3.30pm.
