Police charge man over robbery of Mornington business

Police have charged a 31-year-old man with robbery in relation to an incident at a licenced venue in Mornington on Sunday night.

The man, who was a former staff member of the venue, allegedly entered the premises and hid for about 40 minutes, before stealing close to $13,000 in cash and assaulting a staff member during his attempts to flee.

The staff member was not physically injured in the incident.

The man was arrested today in Rosny. He has since been charged and will appear in court this evening.

Police would like to reassure members of the public the incident was isolated and there was no threat to the wider community.

The stolen cash has not yet been recovered.
