Police charge man over several break and enter offences at Taree

A man will appear at court today charged over multiple alleged break and enter offences in Taree.

About 2.30am yesterday (Sunday 21 February 2021), officers attached to Manning-Great Lakes Police District were patrolling the Taree area when they stopped a Holden Commodore on Bushland Drive, Taree, and spoke with the occupants, including a 30-year-old male passenger.

After further inquiries, police searched the man and his property where they located a number of items alleged to have been stolen from a Taree property the night before (Saturday 20 February 2021).

Police also seized clothing and house-breaking implements.

The man was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with 10 offences including nine counts of break enter and steal, and one count of possess housebreaking implements.

Police will allege in court the man broke into more than half a dozen retail and hospitality venues in the Taree and Wingham town centres in November 2020 and between January and February 2021.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Bail Court yesterday (Sunday 21 February 2021), where he was formally bail refused to appear at Taree Local Court today (Monday 22 February 2021).

Inquiries are continuing.
