Police charge man over Somerton function centre stabbing

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged affray at a reception and function centre in Somerton over the weekend.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts of intentionally causing serious injury, three counts of intentionally cause injury and one count each of reckless conduct endangering life and affray.

The Roxburgh Park man was remanded overnight to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday 10 December.

The charges follow an alleged affray and stabbing on Saturday 7 December at a Hume Highway venue in which attending police found several men with varying injures about 1.50am.

The investigation remains ongoing.
