Police charge man over threats against police - Surry Hills

A man will appear in court today charged over alleged electronic threats towards police earlier in the week.

Detectives from the Fixated Persons Investigation Unit commenced an investigation on Tuesday (8 September 2020), after an officer received electronic correspondence containing alleged threats of violence towards a NSW Police premises at Surry Hills.

Following inquiries, investigators attended a unit on Belvoir Street, Surry Hills, about 9.40am yesterday (Wednesday 9 September 2020), and arrested a 56-year-old man.

The man's phone has been seized and will be forensically analysed.

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with give false information person/property in danger and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Central Local Court today (Thursday 10 September 2020).
