Police charge man over worksite power tools theft - Maroubra

A man faced court today after allegedy stealing nearly 50 power tools from a Maroubra worksite earlier this month.

About 5.50pm (Friday 15 November 2019) a man entered a Roscoe Street worksite where he allegedly stole two bottled drinks.

He left the premises before returning an hour later in work clothing and allegedly used an industrial torch to gain access to a tool box containing various power tools. He left the scene with the tools, valued at over $5000.

About 8am (Wednesday 27 November 2019), following investigations, officers at the Eastern Suburbs Proactive Crime Team attended an address on Bondi Road, Bondi and arrested a 37-year-old man. He was taken to Waverley Police Station for questioning.

Later that afternoon, a search warrant was executed on the man's Bondi residence. During the search, police seized close to 50 power tools as well as other items including clothing.

The man was subsequently charged with larceny (x2), enter land with intent to commit indictable offence (x2), trespass, dispose of stolen property, goods in custody and breach of bail. He was refused bail and faced Waverly Court today (Thursday 28 November 2019).
