Police charge man over wounding - Maroubra

A man has been charged after two men were allegedly slashed during an altercation at Maroubra overnight.

Just before 9pm (Thursday 26 September 2019), a 30-year-old man allegedly broke into a vehicle which was parked outside a premises on Hannan Street.

The owner of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man, and another man, aged 67, confronted the man and attempted to detain him within the vehicle.

The 30-year-old forced his way out of the vehicle and became involved in an altercation with the two men, during which he allegedly produced a knife and slashed at them.

The two men were then able to restrain the man and officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended to arrest him.

The 67-year-old man suffered a wound to his face, and the 28-year-old man suffered a wound to his bicep and were both taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.

The 30-year-old man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment of a head injury he received during the incident and upon release, was taken to Maroubra Police Station.

He was charged with wound with intent (x2), enter vehicle without consent, possess housebreaking implements having previous conviction and goods in custody suspected stolen.

The man was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court today (Friday 27 September 2019).
