Police charge man with aggravated break and enter at Broken Hill

A man has been charged following investigations into an aggravated break-in at a home in Broken Hill in October 2019.

Police will allege a 21-year-old man entered the Patton Street home and threatened a 74-year-old woman while demanding money.

The woman managed to fend off the intruder with a mop and he fled from the premises.

Police were called, and an investigation was commenced.

About 8.30am today (Thursday 7 November 2019), police from Barrier Police District attended a home on Chloride Street where they arrested the 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent.

He was refused police bail and appeared in Broken Hill Local Court where he was formally refused bail. He will next appear in Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 17 December 2019.
