Police charge man with armed robbery at Albury

A man has been charged following an armed robbery at a liquor store in Albury at the weekend.

About 5.30pm Saturday (12 October 2019) a 39-year-old man attended a liquor store on Smollett Street, Albury.

Police allege the man entered the store with a large shifter in his hand and his face covered by a balaclava, before demanding cash from the liquor store attendant.

The man allegedly swung the shifter towards the attendant, before fleeing the scene in a four wheel drive empty-handed.

Police attended and established a crime scene, before attending a house in West Albury where they believed the alleged offender was located.

The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with intent to rob whilst armed with offensive implement and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

The man was bail refused and appeared before Albury Local Court yesterday. He is set to re-appear before Albury Local Court tomorrow.
