Police charge man with armed robbery in Sydney CBD

A man has been charged after allegedly robbing a bar in Sydney's CBD last year.

About 9.45pm (22 October 2020), police were called to a licensed premises on Liverpool Street, Sydney, following reports of an armed robbery.

A 30-year-old man allegedly entered the bar and then walked behind the bar, threatening the male staff member with a knife.

The man then fled with a large sum of cash.

Officers from Sydney City Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a man at a home about 6.45am today, Friday 30 April 2021, on Cecil Street, Ashfield. The man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court today, Friday 30 April 2021.
