Police charge man with attempted murder at Auburn

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing on an Auburn street yesterday.

About 6.30pm (Thursday 10 September 2020), a 40-year-old man was walking on Station Road, Auburn, near Bardo Park, when he was approached by a 32-year-old man.

The two men, who are known to each other, became involved in a struggle, during which the older man suffered a stab wound to the back and side.

Emergency services were called and assisted the injured man. He was treated at the scene and taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 32-year-old man in nearby Dartbrook Road.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with attempt to murder.

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Friday 11 September 2020).
