Police charge man with burglary and stealing

Police have charged a 20-year-old man with eight counts of burglary and stealing, in relation to several crimes that occurred on Sunday 1 May 2022 in the Collins Street, Hobart area.

Police will allege the man broke into seven separate businesses in the Collins Street area and stole a quantity of money. Police were able to identify the suspect from the high-quality CCTV in the area and assistance from the public.

The man has been detained in custody to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

Police would like to remind business owners to remain vigilant with their security and to report any suspicious or criminal behaviour to Police.
