Police charge man with child exploitation offences

Following a protracted investigation, members from Tasmania Police's High Risk Child Exploitation Unit yesterday arrested a 23-year-old Launceston man and charged him with 11 counts of Involve a Person Under 18 Years in the Production of Child Exploitation Material and one count of Possess Child Exploitation Material.

Police allege that over the course of almost two years the man had contacted children across Australia and in the United States and coerced them to produce Child Exploitation Material in the form of images and video of themselves. It is alleged the images were then electronically sent to the man.

The man was bailed with strict conditions and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 2 June.
