Police charge man with commercial drug supply - Redfern RES

Officers from the Region Enforcement Squad have charged a third man following investigations into illicit drug supply throughout the Sydney region.

Strike Force Mathi was established in September 2018 and successfully arrested and charged two men, aged 25 and 37, for commercial drug supply and other drug related offences. Both appeared in Blacktown Local Court on Friday 3 May 2019.

As the investigation continued, officers from the Region Enforcement Squad at Redfern have now charged a third man who they allege was also involved in the supply of illicit drugs.

About 5pm on Thursday 2 May 2019, officers approached a 20-year-old man in the carpark of a Bankstown shopping centre.

As officers approached the man he allegedly fled and was seen to throw a small package, which police will allege was meth amphetamine, and his mobile phone.

Officers seized the items and investigations continued.

About 1.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 May 2019), police were conducting inquiries at a Bankstown shopping centre when they saw the 20-year-old man walk past.

Officers arrested the man and conveyed him to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with supplying large commercial quantity of drugs (x3), drug supply (x5), possess prohibited weapon and possess ammunition without a licence.

He was refused bail and appeared in Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 9 May 2019).

Investigations continue.
