Police charge man with drug, stealing offences after vehicle search at Bathurst

A man has been charged with stealing and drug-related offences following a vehicle stop in the state's Central Tablelands.

About 3.15am yesterday (Thursday 11 February 2021), officers attached to Chifley Police District were patrolling Ophir Road, Abercrombie, when they observed a Holden commodore parked on the side of the roadway.

Police spoke with the driver and sole occupant, a 32-year-old man, before searching his vehicle.

During the search, police located substances believed to be methylamphetamine, $36,400 cash, and altered police identification.

The man was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug, goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle), and larceny.

He was refused bail and appeared at Bathurst Local Court yesterday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Monday 15 February 2021.
