A man will face court charged following an investigation into alleged domestic violence offences in Port Stephens.
About 8pm on Thursday 21 August 2025, police were called to a motel on the Pacific Highway, Heatherbrae, following reports of a domestic violence-related incident.
At the scene, police were told that a woman's clothing had allegedly been placed into a bathtub and destroyed by a man known to her.
Police attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended a short time later; however, the man had left the location and officers commenced inquiries to locate the man.
Following inquiries, police further established that the man allegedly intimidated the woman and breached an AVO on several occasions since Monday 11 August 2025.
Following extensive inquiries, police attached to the Hunter DV High Risk offender Team attended a unit on Port Stephens Drive at Salamander Bay about 10.50am yesterday (Thursday 18 September 2025), where they arrested a 42-year-old man.
He was taken to Nelson Bay Police Station and charged with seven offences,
- Three counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)
- Two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic)
- Knowingly contravene 3rd+ time in 28 days AVO (Domestic), and
- Destroy or damage property (DV).
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Friday 19 September 2025).
