Police Charge Man With Firearms Offences - Tweed Shire

A man will face court charged with alleged firearms offences following an investigation by Tweed-Byron Police.

About 5.55pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 January 2026), police executed a search warrant at a home in Banora Point.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized 28 gel blaster firearms, a rifle, two shotguns, and ammunition.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

There he was charged with six offences,

  • Possess more than three unregistered firearms without licence/permit
  • Possess unregistered firearm - not pistol/prohibited firearm
  • Possess unauthorised pistol
  • Not keep firearm safely - not pistol/prohibited firearm,
  • Not keep firearm safely - pistol, and
  • Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 2 March 2026.
