Police charge man with murder after stabbing - Riverwood

A man will face court today charged with murder following a stabbing in Sydney's south yesterday.

About 7.20pm (Sunday 5 December 2021), emergency services were called to Roosevelt Avenue, Riverwood, following reports a woman had been assaulted and stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located a 67-year-old woman suffering multiple stab wounds to her torso and back.

Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command established a crime scene and with assistance from the South West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group (OSG) and Dog Unit, commenced a search of the area.

A short time later, officers arrested a 24-year-old man at a nearby home on Kentucky Road, Riverwood, where a second crime scene was then established.

The man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Monday 6 December 2021).
