Police charge man with murder at Bourke

A man will face court today charged with murder following a domestic-related incident in the state's Central North overnight.

About 12.30am (Saturday 13 March 2021), emergency services were called to a house on Wortumertie Street, Bourke, following reports a woman had been stabbed.

Officers from Central North Police District, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and located a woman with a stab wound.

The 47-year-old woman died at the scene.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Bourke Police Station.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The man was charged with murder (DV) and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV).

He was refused bail to appear before Dubbo Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 14 March 2021).
