Police charge man with murder - Lavington

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Lavington.

About 2.20am Monday 26 June 2023, emergency services were called to Boomerang Drive, Lavington, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and located a 47-year-old man with a stab wound to his head and neck.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Albury Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 32-year-old man at a home in Springdale Heights about 7.15am the same day.

He was taken to Albury Police station where he was charged with causing wounding/ grievous bodily harm to person with intention to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday 27 June 2023 where he was further refused bail to appear in the same court the next day (Wednesday 28 July 2023).

The 47-year-old man died from his injuries on Thursday 13 July 2023.

Police have since upgraded the 32-year-old man's charges to murder and he is due back in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 22 August 2023.
