Police charge six people after physical altercations at Coonamble

Six people have been charged after physical altercations allegedly occurred at a town in the state's Central West.

About 12.15pm, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District received reports of a brawl at an address in Coonamble.

It is alleged two men, aged 20 and 27, attended a home on Hickey Street and a physical altercation ensued with a 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy.

About 12.25pm it is alleged the 20-year-old man attended a home on Limerick Street where he was involved in a fight with another man, aged 20.

Police attended the scene and observed an estimated 100 bystanders who had gathered in the street.

It is alleged several onlookers attempted to hinder police as they apprehended those committing offences.

Officers deployed OC Spray to prevent the parties from further fighting and injury, and extra resources were dispatched from Dubbo, Gilgandra and Warren to assist with public order control.

The crowd dispersed without further incident.

One man, aged 20, was arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station. He was charged with affray and released on conditional bail.

A second man, aged 20, was arrested at a Caswell Street home and taken to Coonamble Police Station. He was charged with affray (x2) and released on conditional bail.

They will appear before Coonamble Local Court on Tuesday 20 August 2019.

The 27-year-old man was arrested at a Smith Street Home and taken to Coonamble Police Station.

He was bail refused to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Monday 5 August 2019).

About 1pm today (Monday 5 August 2019), a 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station where he was charged with affray.

The boy was granted conditional bail and will appear before a Children's Court on Tuesday 20 August 2019.

Two girls, aged 16, were also arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station today where they were charged with affray.

They were granted conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court at the same date.

Investigations continue.
