Police charge teen after stabbing - Prairiewood

A teenager has been charged after a man was allegedly stabbed in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 3.15pm (Saturday 29 May 2021), emergency services were called to the showground on Smithfield Drive, Prairiewood, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers from Fairfield Police Area Command attended and found a 20-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his back and arm.

Police have been told the man was injured during an altercation with three people at the markets.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 19-year-old male at a home in Ingleburn about 11pm.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with reckless wounding in company, affray and possess prohibited drug.

The teen was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 22 June 2021.
