Police Charge Teenager After Fatal Katherine Crash

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 16-year-old male in relation to the fatal crash that occurred in Katherine on 2 June 2026.

Investigations identified the 16-year-old as the alleged driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

On 24 July 2026, the teenager was arrested and conveyed to the Katherine Watch House, where he was charged with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle Cause Death
  • Careless Drive Cause Death
  • 5 x Recklessly Endanger Life
  • Drive Motor Vehicle in a Dangerous Manner
  • 2 x Drive Motor Vehicle Without Consent
  • Aggravated Burglary
  • Drive Never Licensed

He was remanded in custody to appear in court on Monday, 27 July 2026.
