Two teenage girls have been charged following an investigation into an alleged robbery in Sydney last year.
About 1.45am on Tuesday 21 December 2021, three women – one aged 21 and two aged 20 – were walking along Darling Harbour when they passed a group of teenage girls.
One of the teens allegedly verbally abused the women, before throwing a can at them.
It will be alleged three teenagers pulled the two younger women to the ground by their hair and kicked them in the face.
The older woman contacted emergency services and attempted to run from the group, when she was followed, pushed to the ground and kicked by the teens.
The teenagers left the area a short time later, allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
The two younger women were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital, one suffering a broken nose and the other a broken finger.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
Following extensive inquiries, two teenage girls – aged 13 and 15 – were arrested at Miranda Railway Station about 5.10pm yesterday (Sunday 2 January 2022).
The girls were taken to Sutherland Police Station and each charged with aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm.
The pair were both refused bail and are due to appear at a children's court today (Monday 3 January 2022).
Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
