Police charge three after home invasion at Tamworth

Three people have been charged after a man was assaulted during a home invasion in the state's north east at the weekend.

About 5.15am on Saturday (9 January 2021), five men forced entry to a home on Jill Street, South Tamworth, and confronted the occupants.

It is alleged the men assaulted a 25-year-old man before he managed to flee the house with his four-year-old child.

The group then allegedly assaulted two other occupants before leaving the scene.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended a short time later and established a crime scene.

The 25-year-old man was taken to Tamworth Hospital for treatment to minor injuries and has since been released.

Following inquires, police arrested two men aged, 19 and 20, and a 20-year-old woman at a home on John Street, Tamworth, about 9.30am today (Wednesday 13 January 2021).

They were taken to Tamworth Police Station where they were each charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

All three were granted strict conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 8 February 2021.

Police are still seeking two men in relation to the incident.

Investigations continue.
