Officers from the Tully Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged three people after they allegedly made a false report to police about a carjacking in Silkwood on 10 July.
Around 9pm, police received reports a 29-year-old woman had been assaulted, and her Holden Trailblazer was stolen from the Bruce Highway south of Silkwood.
It will be alleged the woman and two other people known to her, man and woman both aged 57, hid the vehicle and made a false insurance claim.
The 29-year-old Feluga woman, a 57-year-old Trunding woman, and a 57-year-old Trunding man were each charged with one count of fraud - dishonestly gain benefit/ advantage.
All three were issued a notice to appear in the Tully Magistrates Court on 23 July.
