Police charge three teens after investigation into carjacking at Toongabbie

Police have charged three teens following an investigation into an armed carjacking in Sydney's west on Wednesday.

About 12.15am (Wednesday 25 March 2021), a 20-year-old man was sitting in his white VW Golf on Junia Street, Toongabbie, when three unknown males - armed with knives - approached the car and forced him out.

The males entered the car and drove off along Junia Street.

The man was not injured and ran home before contacting police.

Officers from the Blacktown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

About 2am (Wednesday 24 March 2021) patrolling officers noticed the vehicle travelling along Rossvale Street, Toongabbie, and initiated a pursuit, which was terminated shortly afterwards in Leabons Lane, Blacktown, due to the manner of driving.

Later that morning (Wednesday 24 March 2021), patrolling officers noticed the vehicle parked on Rossvale Street, Seven Hills, about 9.30am.

As police approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to drive away, but failed.

Following inquiries, three teens were arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with agg take/drive m/v with person in/on it-armed with weapon (x 2), robbery armed with offensive weapon and agg take/drive m/v with person in/on it-in company.

A 17-year-old girl was charged with drive conveyance taken w/o consent of owner.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with drive conveyance taken w/o consent of owner and fail or refuse to disclose identity as required.

All three were refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Thursday 25 March 2021).
