Police Charge Two After Pursuit - Canley Heights

A man and a teenager will face court over a pursuit in Sydney's south west today.

About 9.30am today (Thursday 13 November 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling on Hamilton Road, Fairfield West, when they sighted a vehicle believed to be stolen.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however, when it failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through to the intersection of Humphries and Avoca Road, Canley Heights, before two occupants allegedly abandoned the vehicle and left the scene on foot.

Following inquiries, police arrested the alleged driver - a 20-year-old man - at a park on St Johns Road, Canley Heights.

A short time later, the passenger - a 16-year-old boy - was arrested on the same street.

They were taken to Fairfield Police Station where the man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, P1 driver exceed speed more than 45km/h, not comply P1 licence - no P plates (Class C), drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, unlawfully possess thing resembles etc number plate, and use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed.

The teenager was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 3 December 2025.

The teenager was granted conditional bail to appear at Children's Court on Monday 8 December 2025.

Inquiries revealed the vehicle was allegedly stolen from Panania on Friday 31 October 2025.
